Why You SHOULD NOT Start a Podcast

As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Podcasting is attractive, and many people think about starting a show.

According to Listen Notes – There are at least 2.2 million podcasts and 100,927,785 episodes in the world. By comparison, IMDB has over 7.4 million titles (movies, TV shows, TV episodes), Spotify has over 60 million tracks, and Audible has over 470,000 audiobooks. These figures make podcasting very alluring, but if you are someone who is toying with the idea of starting a podcast just because of such numbers, you need to sit down, do some research and think about the reasons why!

While the significant number of listeners make podcasts look very attractive, Worse, there are many dead podcasts, too – as podcasters abandoned them in between. Out of all the podcasts globally, less than 50% of podcasts are active, meaning only half of the shows had a new episode published this year.

In today’s episode, I unpack all the reasons that you SHOULDN’T start a podcast! While I absolutely love podcasting, and there are so many reasons to have one, there are some even better reasons why it might not be for you!

Listen in to learn more:

  1. Podcasting won’t make you get rich quickly!
  2. The concept of Podfade
  3. You need to create content that is high quality and consistent.
