Hey Friend –
Happy New Year!
Over the last few years, Podcasting has grown by leaps and bounds. That said, in its simplest form, podcasting is exclusionary to the 10+ million people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Audio-only content cannot always be consumed or enjoyed by this particular community, and the problem worsens when there’s poor audio quality or a lack of accessibility features.
In this particularly personal episode of The Creative Cast, I talk about why podcasts must try to be as accessible to the special needs community. Also, I am including several tips, tricks, and resources that I use with my own consulting and production clients. I would love to see you make your podcast more accessible in 2022! (and increase your audience too!)
So, let’s tackle the inexperience, fatigue, and intimidation that holds you back from growing your influence and impact.
Listen in to learn more :
- Tammy shares about her daughter, a brain injury, and the need for accessibility in podcasting.
- Keep your exclusive content behind a paywall, not the accessibility features.
- Adding a transcript helps with your SEO and discoverability and allows those with hearing and cognitive disabilities to enjoy your content.
- Tapping into the increasing interest for podcasts can be a smart move – but to fully capitalize on demand, podcast accessibility shouldn’t be an afterthought.
